Transformation of the system of exe- cution of punishments in the apparatus of public power in the XIX – XX centuries
Abstract
The article analyzes the various causes and aspects of the evolution of the system of execution of sentences in the apparatus of public authority in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Based on the use of historical and legal methods, retrospective method, methods of analysis and synthesis, the social essence of punishment during this period has been considered. The author represents the system of execution of punishments in inseparable connection with the apparatus of public authority. The paper considers the evolution and transformation of both the types of punishments and the system of their execution under the influence of political and legal changes in society in the twentieth century, the development and implementation of humanistic ideas in the legislation.
