Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues of determining the current directions of reforms in the bodies of the National Police of Ukraine. Attention is drawn to the fact that the goals and objectives of further reforms should be set out in a separate legal document, which should use a systematic approach to address a complex phenomenon - the ideal model of the future system of National Police, and detail the tasks of the National Police , the interests of society and the state, combating crime, ensuring public safety and order, as well as the provision of police services. Тhe process of reform in the police continues. The measures that continue to be implemented aimed at serving and protecting human rights, freedoms and interests in Ukraine are supported not only by Ukrainians but also by the European community. We are convinced that they must be consistent and systematic. As we see, the National Police is an integral part of the reforms initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and implemented. The changes that took place in the process of reforms in the National Police are closely related to the processes of transformation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. These processes were interdependent and simultaneous. Thus, as a result of the reforms, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine became a civilian agency, and the National Police became an independent central executive body. At the same time, the powers of the Minister of the Interior to coordinate the activities of the National Police correspond to the construction of the Ministries of the Interior of many European countries (Austria, France, Hungary, the Baltic States).
